Master Premiere Pro at Noble Desktop

Noble Desktop's Video Editing & Motion Graphics Certificate teaches Premiere Pro alongside After Effects.

This lesson shows how to use Video Effects as Transitions. There are limited Video Transitions, but this technique allows you to create your own transitions using multiple options.

Hi, This is Margaret with Noble Desktop. Today, We Will Be Talking About Video Transitions.

One thing editors do if they want to have a lot of transitions is they can select a series of clips, highlight them, and then press Command+D, which is the default cross dissolve. Your cross dissolves are located under Dissolve in the Effects panel.

Now, all transitions, no matter what, can be set to have a certain duration. To do this, go to Premiere Pro > Preferences > Timeline and change the Video Transition Default to the desired duration.

To illustrate, we can select all the clips and press Command+D to create a series of three-second dissolves. Additionally, the Effects tab in the browser is also a workspace, and here you can find the video transitions.

One of the fun transitions is Whip, which is located in the Slide category. We can drag it to the beginning of the video, and make it four seconds long. We can also change the Slide transition to be four frames long, or do a Dip to White/Black for a dreamscape feeling. There is also a VR transition which works with 360 cameras and non-VR 360 footage.

I hope you've enjoyed this video on transitions. This has been Margaret from Noble Desktop.
