In this video, we're going to do a quick review of the tool called Insulation, which we have used in the past.

In this video, we're going to do a quick review of the tool called Insulation, which we have used in the past. We'll go over it quickly. So this tool creates a special kind of detail line which forms the symbol for batt insulation.

Let's go to our Plan Detail Window Jam view, and we're going to go ahead and draw in some batt insulation in the wall cavity. If we go to our Annotate tab in the ribbon above, go to our Detail panel, you'll see the batt insulation symbol. Let's confirm the insulation width is 8 inches, which is going to be the full width of the 8-inch stud wall cavity.

And you have three options here on how to draw insulation, either to the center, the near side, or the far side. So let's just do a quick review to the center. Obviously, now the centerline. Near side goes to one end, far side goes to the other end.

And then in this instance, let's just use the center. We'll use the Stud Detail component as a guide, and then we'll just drag it until it goes off of our view. And that concludes our video series for Lesson 1 of BIM 303 Detailing in Revit Architecture.

In the next lesson, Lesson 2, we'll continue looking at the hybrid approach to detailing in Revit, and we'll look at locking components, Show/Remove Hidden Lines, Cut Profile, and we'll also use Keynotes. Be sure to save your project at the end of this lesson as we'll be using it in Lesson 2.
