In this comprehensive tutorial, we'll explore the essential process of adding professional labels to parcels in Civil 3D. To begin, navigate to the ribbon bar's tab system at the top of your interface.

Access the Annotate tab and select Add Labels to launch the labeling interface. This action opens the Add Labels dialog box, your command center for all labeling operations. The dialog presents four primary categories: Features, Label Types, Note Label Style, and Marker Style. These options work together to provide precise control over how your annotations appear and function within the drawing environment.

When you expand the Line Label Style dropdown, you'll find various formatting options. Similarly, for the Curve Label Style, "Delta Over Length and Radius" delivers comprehensive curve geometry data essential for construction and legal documentation.

Before proceeding, consider the additional configuration options available. Click Add to activate Single Segment mode. Notice the fundamental difference in workflow: instead of selecting an Area Label for comprehensive parcel annotation, you now target individual segments for precise label placement. This method provides superior control over label positioning—while Multiple Segment automatically centers labels at segment midpoints, Single Segment allows you to position labels exactly where they'll be most effective for drawing communication.
